Community Action

For the past 2 years we’ve collected over 438 lbs of candy from local kids (some as far away as 40 minutes).  We give each child a $1 for every pound of candy they bring in and a really cool toothbrush! All the candy is donated to Operation Troop Support (www.operationtroopsupport.org) who ships it overseas to our service men & women. They get a treat and they use the candy to lure children out of dangerous places. If you live in the area be sure to check out our website for next Halloweens Candy Buy Back!

In 2010 we decided to give back and complete a free Smile Makeover. Potential Smile Makeover contestants were asked to submit a letter and photo.  There were many heartbreaking entries. So many people out there wanted a better smile and more confidence that it was hard to choose one monthly winner.  Each winner came in for a free exam, x-rays and cleaning and we narrowed it down to one overall winner. At the end of the year we chose Andrea to receive the smile makeover. Andrea, a single mother was teased about her teeth as a child and she lacks confidence. Being unemployed with no dental insurance had made it difficult for her to get the work she needs done. With this Smile Makeover she feels she will be more confident for job interviews. Another fundraiser we've done for Operation Troop Support was Socks & Snacks. We collected all sorts of snacks & socks from our team members and patients to send to the troops. It was a great success.

Every June, we sponsor the Garrison Elementary School’s 5K race for kids to help support their effort in ending childhood obesity.

Helping Children Hear in New Hampshire (www.helpingchildrenhearnh.com) put together a 5K race in April 2010 that we sponsored. The road race was a fundraiser to benefit preschool children who are deaf and hard of hearing; who are attending school at "Hear in NH".  Our donation helped make this race a success- which it was- 205 people registered! With our help, a check for $5000 was presented to the school.

We help sponsor Project Graduation for the seniors at Dover High School. This is an alcohol & drug-free event for the graduating senior class. Last year it included indoor swimming, badminton, basketball, volleyball, skateboarding, rollerblading, racquetball, dancing and many other activities! After all that, they were served a continental breakfast and bussed home! Our team was glad we could help make this happen.

Pan-Massachusetts Challenge supports the innovative work of doctors, nurses, and scientists at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and their search for cures for cancers and related diseases. JD Howard Dental’s donation was a tribute to Dana-Farber’s outstanding work and gives faith to patients; families and friends who want the most effective and advanced care available today. www.pmc.org

We have donated to Orphanage Outreach. (www.orphanage-outreach.org) We helped to ensure that they are able to offer high-quality programs for the communities they serve. Taken right from the program’s website “The mission of Orphanage Outreach is to transform individuals, families, communities, and countries through the education and development of orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. As we release the hero within these children, we release the hero within each person involved with Orphanage Outreach.” What an incredible program- how could we not contribute to it?!

Brain Injury Associate of New Hampshire (www.bianh.org) is an organization that hits close to home for us. One of our hygienist’s sister has a brain injury and her mother is the Community Organizer and Support Group Coordinator. We were more than willing to make a donation to BIANH.
